Layers of Love

Diamonds don’t demand attention. They catch our eye because of their rare beauty that gently sparkles when light interacts with them. That sparkle is near and in our moments if only we take the time to look. 

This session stands out to me as a diamond. 

As I walked around this property, I noticed a familiar softness. Home felt less like a place and more like a refuge.

These images celebrate being engaged but they also celebrate a couple moving into a new home together. Starting a life and settling into a place with layers of meaning. Built by the hands of a loving grandpa. A rose bush that was great grandma's, planted by a grandma. Planters homemade by a caring fiancé. A ring designed with thoughtfulness.

During the session I noticed how gentle his hand was when he held hers. Her smile and how her eyes rested as she looked at him while they walked playfully with each other. I see an adorable tail hug. I see a granddaughter with her fiancé in front of a very special rosebush. I smile because I feel the joy I witnessed when their dogs are near.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroys and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Shine a light into your own ordinary life and look for the sparkles. Those are the diamonds worthy of collecting.
